John joined ID Comms in 2013 and has performed the role of Chairman since 2015.
John enjoys a long and prestigious history in the industry. Starting in the advertising agency business as long ago as 1966, John Billett remains an active participant in the media and marketing communications business.
Working first in the Unilever Media Department and then in a top10 advertising agency, John became the industry’s first media agency media director under the age of 30.
In the following 5 years, John drove the agency from 18th to 8th upon which he created one of the first breakaway specialist media agencies in 1981, also becoming chairman of the formative Association of Media independents.
Following an early agency merger John became CEO of the UK operation and subsequently floated the business on the London Stock exchange.
John created Billetts as an alternative and distinctive media auditing business, which grew to have offices across Europe and then brought media auditing practice to the USA, creating not only media evaluation but also marketing effectiveness validation. Under John’s chairmanship Billett grew to become the largest benchmarking media business worldwide.
Selling that business in 2007, which now continues rebranded as Ebiquity, he worked with media agencies and media vendors as a consultant working on media trading metrics and pricing optimisation.
A regular contributor with trade articles and still a highly demanded conference speaker, John has forged a reputation as a creative media thinker and challenger to conventions.
